First Food!

Well, I was going to wait until Monday to post this but it's too cute!  Lex got the ok to start rice cereal from his Dr so last night we tried it.  He gobbled it all up, then again this morning and just now.  He opens wide to be sure to get the whole spoon in his mouth.  I had to refill the bowl and he started crying waiting for more.  Mr hunger bunger!  I can't seem to keep him full, he stops, but it always seems like he would keep eating if I let him.  I don't want to over feed him,i guess he can just eat a ton!

Growing Big & Strong

Yesterday we went to a new Dr for Lex's 4 month check up.  We loved Dr Burgert, he was so personable and caring.  He seemed to be in tune with all that was going on with us, asked me lots of questions, and made sure that all was well at home.  Lex is 13lbs 11oz now, more than doubled his birth weight & 24in long.  The Dr gave us the go ahead for rice cereal, and was shocked and amazed at Lex's ability to eat 12oz+ at one sitting.  The next visit is at 6 months on June 15th.  I can't even imagine what he'll be doing then.
Here are some videos from last week.  Grandma Susie came up to visit and help out around the house.  Lex loved being doted on and held all the time!  In this first video they have quite the conversation.  He just started laughing as a response this week.   Judson and I took Lex outside as soon as the weather warmed up.  Judson is ready to have a little shadow follow him around, he is already teaching him to walk and ride his tricycle!  We just can't wait for spring & summer to finally get here.  Hopefully this weekend we'll get to do some yard work.  The peonys and rose bush and pink dogwood are all starting to bud.  I am so impatient for some blooms, so i can fill the house with fresh flowers!  This week i have lots of projects.  Doing some painting touch ups around the house, and sewing a few baby gifts.  I can't wait to start crafting again.  Lex is old enough to play by himself for a while, so between that and his naps I have some free time.  We are off to start the day!

Happy Easter
Is it spring? I've been waiting and waiting for it, it's almost here.   One of the joys of living in Kansas is the tulips!  I had to capture these beautiful tulips from my neighbors yard on saturday.    I know better than to get my hopes up for a warm sunny Texas like Easter, but i did.   Saturday was beautiful, "santa monica weather" as Judson said, but Sunday it was cold and rainy.  I tried to make it work any way, wearing a spring dress and taking photos outside.  :(
We went to Lawrence on Saturday to spend the weekend with Judson's mom.  Just so happened that KU was having their spring training football game.  The whole family had to go to that, the professional tailgaters that they are!  Lex and I went to target!  Saturday night was date night for me and Judson.  We walked all over downtown Lawrence and went to dinner, while Grandma Susie baby sat our little guy.  Judson and I had a wonderful time just talking and being together.  It seemed like forever that we had just hung out!  Sunday morning we went to church at Trinity Lutheran Church with Susie, it was the church that Judson was baptized in in 1975.  Beautiful church and choir and pipe organ.  (Susie is a pianist, and she told me all about it)  Lex got a little wiggly wormy so we stepped out after about 30 minutes.
We went back to Susies townhouse and met Bob & Laura and Will there for Easter lunch.  Ham, deviled eggs, green bean casserole, and bird nest cookies.  yum yum. Will and Lex played and cooed all day! What fun to see the cousins together.   Happy Easter, Happy Spring!

Wedding

Last Saturday our dear friends Chelsie and Craig got married!  Our whole small group attended (except Matt) and great fun was had by all.  Dinner, dancing any many laughs.  It was a great night out.  Judson and I hadn't been out together in a long time.  Lex was at Aunt Christi's house and it sounds like they had just as much fun!

Spring Snow

Last week there was a snow storm that I thought would do me in!  Jesse and I had worked so hard in the garden getting it cleaned up and mulched to let the daffodils and peonys bloom, and then the snow came.  I felt so defeated in this northern tundra.  Alas, the sun came out again, and these hardy little plants were tough!  I can't wait for spring!
Gimme that attitude!

mommy's helper

Lex is growing up so fast!  He can't wait to sit up and run and skip and play.  I finally got the hint, to set up his big boy chair, when he was getting so frustrated laying down.  Now he's all ready for real food!

Last week Lex, was a big helper with the laundry.  I hate doing laundry, but having that sweet face to look at made it so much better.
